I'm home early today. Cos I skipped my Eng lecture..haha I know I should'nt be doing that since I'm being paid to attend lectures..blah3. But I have four hours break leh..so my friends and I decided to have our early lunch at JP and then head home. Furthermore, there's some crappy national day celebrations at the campus. Talk about patriotism :-p

Over lunch, we talked about some things which actually took me by surprise. Its not a bad surprise neither is it a good one. Knowing what some of my friends are going through made me realise how blessed I am to have an intact family.

Two of my girlfriends whom I got to know in NIE told me that they're actually living on their own. I mean if they meant staying in hostel, its normal la. But for their cases, it was due to family crisis. One of them, the father went through divorces and re-married thrice while the other one, her mum went MIA and her dad married a foreigner and migrated. And these two gfs of mine are on their own, either staying in a rented flat or the father left the house for her.

At ages as young as 22 and 24, they are independently supporting themselves. Now, I don't think their situation is as bad as last time, financially i mean, since they've started earning. But i cant imagine how they manage to cope in the past, with school and all. Despite of their dysfunctional family history, these friends of mine no "anak metropilitan" ok. In fact, one of them was from RGS and both just graduated from NUS, like me.

So, what I'm trying to say is that it's and eye-opener and something new for me to hear all these things happening in our community, what more within my circle of friends. But for their cases, hats off to them for standing where they are today, despite of their family complications.

Well, on a different note, I bought a new hp. Just when I said in the earlier entry that my old hp was in gd working condition, it started to buat hal pulak. So, i bought the nokia 6233. The functions are very user-friendly and I simply love the metallic silver and black body casing. Makes it look classy and elegant.. haha
